RE: Flas flooding in wisconsin

Actually camo, the dam didn't give way, there was just that much water going over, and I'm assuming around, it. I haven't heard if the dams on some of the area lakes are still holding or not. I know there was a few they were concerned about.

RE: The Pacific Northwest According To Jeff Foxworthy

Too funny! That reminded me, I've got a Wisconsin version of that, so I had to go find it. I hope you don't mind, but I had to post it too! There's some that are the same, or at least very similar.
JEFF FOXWORTHY ON WIS.
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 38 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights each year because Park Falls is the coldest spot in the nation, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you have ever refused to buy something because it's "too spendy", you might live in Wisconsin.
If your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you instinctively walk like a penguin for five months out of the year, you might live in Wisconsin.
If someone in a store offers you assistance, and they don't work there, you might live in Wisconsin.
If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you may not have actually eaten it, but you have heard of Head Cheese, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you have either a pet or a child named "Brett", you might live in Wisconsin.
If your town has an equal number of bars and churches, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you have had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you know how to say Oconomowoc, Waukesha, Menomonie & Manitowoc, you might live in Wisconsin.
If you think that ketchup is a little too spicy, you might live in Wisconsin.
If every time you see moonlight on a lake, you think of a dancing bear, and you sing gently, "From the land of sky-blue waters,....you might live in Wisconsin.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE WISCONSINITE WHEN:
1. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway.
2. "Vacation" means going up north past Hwy 8 for the weekend.
3. You measure distance in hours.
4. You know several people who have hit deer more than once.
5. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again.
6. Your whole family wears Packer Green to church on Sunday.
7. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching.
8. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including weddings and funerals ).
9. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
10. You think of the major food groups as beer, fish, and venison.
11. You carry jumper cables in your car and your wife or girlfriend knows how to use them.
12. There are 7 empty cars running in the parking lot at Mill's Fleet Farm at any given time.
13. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
14. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
15. You refer to the Packers as "we."
16. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction.
17. You can identify a southern or eastern accent.
18. You have no problem pronouncing Lac Du Flambeau.
19. You consider Minneapolis exotic.
20. You know how to polka.
21. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your blue spruce.
22. You were unaware that there is a legal drinking age.
23. Down South to you means Illinois.
24. A brat is something you eat.
25. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new pole shed.
26. You go out to fish fry every Friday
27. Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost.
28. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car.
29. You find minus twenty degrees "a little chilly."
30. You actually understand these jokes, and you forward them to all your Wisconsin friends

RE: Anybody Else into Ice Fishing.

I think I'd rather ice fish than open water fish! We haven't gotten out much this year. One of the first times we did go out, it was super cold out. Ended up with a dead battery on the Grizz, so we had to hike back across the lake to go home (luckily the truck started) to go get my father-in-law's truck (which is lighter) so they could charge the battery. A couple hours later...My husband said it was 28 below when he got off the lake, not including wind chill! I don't know, I was told I was staying home where it was warm. But at least we ended up with a decent meal for the three (and a half!) of us!

RE: Gettin' any snow yet???

Too much for me! At least for the moment- I live on top of a hill, I desperately need new tires, and my 4WD doesn't work. :M Maybe I'll get that fixed for Christmas. Who knows?
But we've got probably a good foot and a half to two feet here, at least.

RE: Got some ink!

They are addicting!!!!! I went in getting the one on my shoulder and the one on my ankle, those were the only ones I was ever ever going to get. Well, add one more on my hip, one more on my lower back, the one that'll go between my shoulder blades is a work in progress (still being drawn) ... You get the idea! Someday I'll actually get pics of all of them, especially once I get the latest one because that will be a custom piece.
Nice choice for first ink!

So much for riding next summer!

But that's quite alright with me! Just confirmed today (known for 3 weeks now) that the hubby and I are expecting!!!!! :B:B:B So somewhere around the end of June, there will be another (future) rider in the family!
We're super excited, but really nervous at the same time. I'm high risk (diabetes) and I know what I went through with my son. Hopefully it won't be a repeat of that!
So I guess I'm not going to make the annual 4th of July ride (again... I broke my leg a few years ago and missed that one!) :p

RE: I finally got a machine....

Actually, HE'S making good progress lol. He does most of his tinkering while I'm sleeping. I work 1st shift and have to start early for OT, while he works 2nd shift and has to stay late for OT, and then he stays up to get the rugrat on the bus. So he's usually got a couple hours to kill. Now he's got something constructive to do.

RE: I finally got a machine....

Well, with a little creative thinking, and a little modifying, I have a brand new, never been on a machine set of tires- the stock ones off of my husband's Grizz! When he bought it, it already had the big wheel kit on it, so these were just sitting there collecting dust. He got looking at them and did some measuring. The bolt pattern's the same, with the same measurements so he tried putting them on. On the rear ones, he had to flip the rims around to keep them from hitting the frame, but other than that they fit! So he may need to do a little more modifying (tapered lug nuts and all) to make sure they stay snug. The new rims are an inch bigger, so now I have a mini lift kit! :B

I can't wait until it's totally done and I can go riding!

RE: I finally got a machine....

why not choose the sunl atvs, ther are much more cheaper, but with not bad performance. if you don't abusingly steer it, sunl atv is a good choice for kids and beginners.
1. Cheaper than $200?!? I don't think so!
2. "if you don't abusingly steer it..." So in other words, the steering sucks, and can break pretty easily.
Go try to sell your sh!t somewhere else!!!!
Anyways, back to the original reason for this post. It's alive!!!! :B
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/buttercatlady/DSCN0528.jpg
Got the carb put back on, put fresh gas in, and tryed to start it. The battery is dead from sitting so long, so we had to kickstart it, but it popped right off! Yes!! One of the first purchases for it will definately be a muffler- Holy******was it loud with the garage all closed up! The carbs need adjusting, but at least it runs.
Another good thing- I might possibly (hopefully!) be able to get a parts machine for really cheap. A friend of ours stopped over tonight, and was saying his dad's 300 is in the shop right now. Apparently the rear end is shot, and it won't stay running and I'm not sure what else. His dad doesn't use it much- just to herd cattle sometimes, and occasionally check fences. If they can't figure out whats wrong with it, he'll probably just junk it. So I might be able to get fenders, brand new tires, cv boot (one of mine is trashed), and whatever else I need without spending major cash! I hope, I hope, I hope!
